a Year of Growth

Reflection, Growth, and Change in 2021

When I reflect on this past year, I am reminded of Jesus’ parable of the mustard seed. Big things can grow from something very small. For us, a seed was planted over 26 years ago by two women leasing a single apartment for bone-marrow transplant patients and their families traveling into Little Rock to receive treatment.

This year we have watched Goodness Village grow into 20 apartments, a staff of 8, and nearly 700 volunteers. In 2021, we served 139 families from 23 different states. A single apartment growing into nationwide impact. With all this growth, there comes uncertainty and change. Demand for our apartments is increasing with a new cancer treatment for Multiple Myeloma and other cancer patients at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Also, more families from CARTI and Arkansas Children’s Hospital are staying with us while receiving treatment. We don’t like turning families away, so we are making it a goal of 2022 to add two new apartments and increase our housing availability.

As we work to meet the needs of families, one thing that will never change is our commitment to provide a safe, clean and healthy environment for them to rest and recover. Your love and support of Goodness Village flows into each one of our apartments and is making a meaningful impact every day in the lives of our guests.

A Year in Review

Two New Apartments

This year Goodness Village added two new apartments to its list of available housing. With a new total of 20 apartments, we are able to welcome patients from all over the country who are seeking treatment at all Little Rock hospitals.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

On August 24, 2021, we celebrated our ribbon cutting ceremony with the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce. This was another step in our mission to serve families seeking rest and repose during advanced medical treatment.

Nationwide Impact

In 2021 we served patients from 23 different states.
